Gas Log Flame Fires

What are Gas Log Flame Fires?

Gas log flame fires offer everything you love about an open fire, but without all the hassle that goes with it! Gas log fires are designed with installation flexibility in mind, and will fit almost anywhere, be it an existing fireplace, a new fireplace or in place of an old heater.

When the temperature drops, nothing appeals more than a cosy fire!

Gas log, or pebble fires come in many variations so it is important to consult an expert retailer to ensure that the gas fire you buy will do what you want and can be flued to suit your requirements.

Open style gas fireplaces certainly have the ambiance factor but can be low on the heating scale, so if you are after more than just good looks, you many want to consider a sealed unit as these are generally more efficient.

The sealed or glass fronted gas fires also vary substantially in features and flueing. There are the traditionally flued units, which go up through the roof, a DV or direct vent flue system, and the power flued units. The power flue systems are usually the most efficient although the flame pattern tends to be less asthetically pleasing. The power flue and DV flue fires bring the combustion air in from outside and expel the emissions back outside. This is a two way flue system that allows for the flue to terminate on the outside of an external wall instead of having to flue through the roof or eve.

Naturally there are strict regulations to be met with the installation procedure, so ensure you use a licensed tradesman familiar with installing gas appliances.
